What is Women Inventing Themselves (WIT)?
WIT is a cyber network of versatile, clever, committed
women like you who are ready to make conscious choices about
all aspects of their lives.
There is no doubt that Women Inventing Themselves (WIT) is
most "Time-ly!"
Are You a WIT Woman?
- You are exceptionally self-aware, but still open to new
insights.
- You contribute to others but realize the importance of
self-care.
- You have fulfilled all the "I should's" and
are ready to take a few risks.
- You are troubled by the state of the world and wonder
what you can do about it.
- You have education, smarts, style and experience but may
not yet have found your life's purpose.
WIT and The Visibility Project
WIT is the first special niche group for whom I specifically
designed The Visibility Project. Those of you who inspired
WIT spoke to me repeatedly of your concerns about creeping
invisibility in a world where the contributions of seasoned
women are too often overlooked and under-valued. I created
the Visibility Project in response to this very real concern.
I developed the visibility program out of my own personal
experience. It was hard to feel more invisible than I did
when I first returned to the States in September 2001 after
20 years living abroad. I learned that at the time of life
when social visibility is increasingly challenged, sustainable
visibility - the kind that is a by-product of owning your
whole self- is foremost on the agenda.
When I coach a WIT woman, together we address both the sources
and the obstacles to her visibility in the present tense of
her life. Perhaps her visibility is eclipsed by a refusal
to let go of the old ways of being seen. Surely her visibility
quotient would rise if she dared reveal some of her quirks
and develop her hidden talents. Perhaps, like me, she is negotiating
a core tension between a desire for - and fear of - personal
visibility.
